[wptabtitle]Our Mission[/wptabtitle]

[wptabcontent]

The mission of Straw Dog Writers Guild is to support the writing community in the four counties of Western Massachusetts – Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire – by strengthening, engaging and connecting writers at all levels of development.

A collaborative open to writers, writing group facilitators, readers, editors, booksellers, publishers and other organizations serving writers, Straw Dog Writers Guild is a vibrant network of resources for the writing community.

We are a volunteer organization dedicated to the craft and transformative power of writing, designed to serve writers throughout the region by promoting individual growth, community outreach and enrichment. We accomplish this directly and through our members by offering:

as

creative writing workshops in multiple genres, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction and memoir;

manuscript editing and revision referrals;

literary salons with local authors and publishing professionals;

outreach to under-served populations;

a welcoming space for writers to gather and network.

as

Building on the existing talent and resources in Western Massachusetts, Straw Dog Writers Guild envisions a diverse community of writers and kindred spirits working together to create a unique center that cultivates, motivates and supports those interested in the literary life. [/wptabcontent]
