Six Feet Between and Under

When you feel trapped
like a fox
have to gnaw your own
foot off
this when he gave you a
bitchslap
he will never forget

you leaving him
whiskey burnt and heart
torn out of its porch railings
tooth and nail
truth or dare
yanked from his easy chair
leaving you caught-up so

who do you call then
a cab the shelter
a friend an ambulance
social worker
police or priest
a ghost buster
the man in the moon
who saw it all when
trapped like a fox
what you do to save the rest

Sheltering at home
